Weston is the country cousin of Westport with wide stretches of open spaces, a seasonal farmers market, walking trails through serene woodlands and a breath-taking reservoir surrounded by tall pines. Just minutes from the Merritt Parkway and the Westport Train Station, Weston is an easy commute to Manhattan.
Weston was incorporated in 1787 and has since grown to about 10,000 residents today. In an effort to protect the rural feeling of the town, Weston adopted a 2-acre residential zoning policy in 1953 and restricted commercial development to the Town Center which has eight retail shops, a post office, bank and gas station. The friendly small town atmosphere is epitomized by residents congregating for a cup of coffee and a chat at Lunch Box, a 50’s style luncheonette in the Town Center.
Weston takes pride in an excellent school system which manages to feel like a small school while offering a wide range of programs in math, drama, music, and computer science. In fact, Weston produced a Rhodes Scholar from a recent graduating class. Weston also has its own library with 48,000 volumes and full access to Westport’s library.
